piston skirts no mas
#1
So I recently aquired a 96 scrambler 400...... got a chance to mess with it tonight and found a hole in the crankcase just below the carb. I pulled the head and the cylinder and sure enough the piston skirts are gone and the crankcase is full of metal. My question is how far will I need to go here? The piston is obvious but what about the crank and rod bearings? I'm new to 2 strokes but very familiar with automotive engines ( in which case this would be disastrous). The hole in the crankcase is small and I wonder if maybe it can be patched. Thanks so much for any help or input!!!!!!

well if theres a hole in the block and the piston is gone and metal thru the lower end, i would pretty much say to start looking for a complete engine. it would be cheaper and chances are the bearing are shot on the crank anyways. imo.
