Moose RM3, Polaris Glacier 1 or Polaris Glacier 2?
#11
I went through 2 glacier 2 mount plates last season! Polaris would not warranty them either. There response was driver abuse. I had a glacier 1 for 3 seasons and never a problem. So the last time my dealer straitenened out my bent mount and welded it with a new one. Now it is twice as thick. That happened at the end of winter so I have not tested it out yet.

FYI
You guys with the G2 set-ups, keep an eye on your mounting plates. Bend down and look underneath. If you see any deflection, flexing, or boeing, then you've got a problem!</end quote></div>
mtpockets,
Thanks. I assume you are talking about the plate that attaches to the ATV frame... correct?

All the Moose plows that I have seen have been the old style, non quick disconnect. I haven't been able to compare a Moose RM3 system side by side with a Polaris Glacier 1 or 2. However a local Polaris dealer told me that the Moose RM3 system IS the Glacier 2 setup. Nobody seems to have the Glacier 1 setup on display here either, so I'm totaly dependant on what I see on the net. I was hoping that someone would take a picture of their Glacier 2 mounting plate close up, so that I could actually take you up on your offer for a close up shot comparison on the Moose RM3, but no luck yet. The only thing I'm concerned with is if the RM3 setup has been reinforced in the areas that the glacier 2 owners have said that the glacier 2 mount needs to be reinforced. The quality of the Moose plow blade itself does seem a little beefier than the Polaris plow blade. Would it be possible for you to take a couple close up shots of the mount plate on your quad 5J's? Maybe one from the front closeup and one from underneath? Maybe I can print out a pic and compare it to the glacier 2 display unit. Thank you for your input on this matter. I almost wish that you could get a little snow soon 5J's and post a review before i make up my mind, but I know that the snow will be flying here before too long too.</end quote></div>
LT Cheg - I will take some pics of the RM3 mount tommorow and post them on Thursday. I don't mind waiting a little longer snow :-)~ I have been working on a clubhouse for the kiddies and would like to wrap up before the snow comes.

I had the pic below in my Photobucket account. I know it doesn't show the mount on the ATV very well, but I thought I would post it for now. I'll get better pics of the mount tomorrow.
One thing you can see is the blue plastic covered cable (not the winch cable). The ends of the cable are attached to ears that engage on pins on the plow mount. If you pull that cable it opens the ears and removes the plow from the ATV - pretty simple. If you were real good and level, you could drive up to the plow and, if aligned, the plow would lock right onto the mount - again pretty simple

Thank you very much 5 J's your help is greatly appreciated. Your current club house project is far more important anyway. And for what it's worth, anyone who would go through the efforts of building a clubhouse like that for their kids must be a really great dad. Nice job.

Fantastic clubhouse! WOW!
Be sure you polyurethane it before the color of the wood goes to hell. It looks outstanding right now.
BTW, I noticed the ANGLE control on the Moose differs from my Glacier2. Looks beefier. I think for my next plow I will try the Moose. I had one years ago and loved it. Moose contracts with fewer dealers in my area which forced me to switch to the Polaris plows a few years ago.

Thanks for the compliments on the Clubhouse - I'm looking for a good stain for it. May try a stain called SuperDeck - expensive but supposed to be good. Not sure if there will be weather good enough to stain before winter here in Maine.
Can't say I'm anxious for the snow - but I would like to try out the plow. my driveway is on a hill and some areas tend to get icy - so I might pick up some chains.
I'm going to take some more pics of the plow mount tomorrow and post.

Great looking plow system, and a great looking Clubhouse.
How many miles on your Sportsman? Looks like the 489's are holding up good. How are they in the snow?

Note sure of the exact mileage - but only around 100. Just bought this Spring/Summer so I haven't been in the snow yet. If anybody has input good/bad on the 489's in the snow I would like to hear BEFORE I head out ice fishing. I do have another post looking for advice on chains.
