Moose RM3, Polaris Glacier 1 or Polaris Glacier 2?
Ok, so I know I've been asking a lot of plow related questions about my new Sportsman 800, but I've got my setups down to a couple of choices now. I was all set to go with a Glacier 1 setup until I looked at a couple of plows in person. The local Polaris dealer was telling me that the new Glacier 2 setup has been improved and reinforced. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Also, when I looked at a straight 60" glacier 1 plow today it looked kind of chincy, so I'm not as convinced as I once was. Lastly a local CanAm dealer has offered me a great deal on a Moose Rapid Mount 3 setup. I would be pretty close to Breese Lawn and Garden pricing with the local CanAm dealer on similar equipment so I'm tempted. I really like the look of the Moose plow itself the best, as it seems the heaviest and sturdiest. Plus I might even go the County Plow Route. So, my question is, which plow do I get? Is the Moose RM3 setup better or at least reinforced over the glacier 2 setup? If it were you guys, what would you get? Glacier 1 2 way, glacier 1 striaght plow, Glacier 2 setup, Moose RM3 straight blade, or Moose RM3 county blade? Thanks for your advice.

Moose RM3, Polaris Glacier 1 or Polaris Glacier 2?
I have the glacier one and it is by far the easiest I have ever used. I was skeptical at first as I had a swisher before. It was built like a truck plow, heavy, thick steel! And, you knew it when you raised the plow and the front of the atv would dip down very noticeably! LOL! I did like the mount system in that it transferred the force all through the atv's frame. However, it was a pain in the butt to install and had no quick release whatsoever. The glacier plow is much lighter, but also much easier to install and use. The mounting system can be left installed and does not interfere with recreational riding, although I remove it just to prevent any damage. I do not like how lightweight the mount is as it bends easy if you strike anything with some force. I will be reinforcing it before I use it this year and I have read where this is a common problem. The plow itself is plenty strong and the bottom of the blade (wear bar?) is replaceable, which is important. I just have to remember it is not a truck or tractor and to quit trying to move a mountain of snow, even though I know the 800 has it in her! LOL!

This will be my third winter with the Glacier I straight 52" plow and I don't plan on getting anything different on my next ATV. I leave the mount on year-round and haven't hit anything with it. I haven't bent it by running the plow into curbs and things either. I reccomend getting the rubber flap to go on top of the blade too.
P.S. The Glacier plow is so much better than my old CMP plow that it's not even in the same class.

With no love for the Moose, maybe the Glacier 1 really is the way to go. I know a lot of people weren't big on the razor 2 way plow when I asked about it, but maybe that's the best combo. The polaris straight 60" blade I looked at at the dealership just looked too chincy compared to the Moose blade. The razor looked a little beefier than the standard 60". Anyone know if it would be possible to put a Moose blade on the Glacier 1 system? Thanks

As I've stated in other posts - I have yet to use my Moose RM3 - I have NOT compared side-by-side with the Glacier(?). The only thing I can say is that the dealer where I bought my machine and plow, who has seen both, was quite impressed with the Moose RM3.
LT CHEG - have you compared each yourself?

I think the RM3 looks just like the Glacier 2 set-up.
And I would bet that the two ARE the same.
Just visited the mooseutilities.com website.
FYI
You guys with the G2 set-ups, keep an eye on your mounting plates. Bend down and look underneath. If you see any deflection, flexing, or boeing, then you've got a problem!

Moose RM3, Polaris Glacier 1 or Polaris Glacier 2?
All the Moose plows that I have seen have been the old style, non quick disconnect. I haven't been able to compare a Moose RM3 system side by side with a Polaris Glacier 1 or 2. However a local Polaris dealer told me that the Moose RM3 system IS the Glacier 2 setup. Nobody seems to have the Glacier 1 setup on display here either, so I'm totaly dependant on what I see on the net. I was hoping that someone would take a picture of their Glacier 2 mounting plate close up, so that I could actually take you up on your offer for a close up shot comparison on the Moose RM3, but no luck yet. The only thing I'm concerned with is if the RM3 setup has been reinforced in the areas that the glacier 2 owners have said that the glacier 2 mount needs to be reinforced. The quality of the Moose plow blade itself does seem a little beefier than the Polaris plow blade. Would it be possible for you to take a couple close up shots of the mount plate on your quad 5J's? Maybe one from the front closeup and one from underneath? Maybe I can print out a pic and compare it to the glacier 2 display unit. Thank you for your input on this matter. I almost wish that you could get a little snow soon 5J's and post a review before i make up my mind, but I know that the snow will be flying here before too long too.

Didn't you post this same topic question just last month?</end quote></div>
Last month I was just about set to get a Glacier 1 setup and was asking primarily about what blade to go with, the standard or the two way. Then a local dealer threw a wrench in the works by offering a great deal on the RM3 setup, and I asked a question about the RM3 setup towards the end of the original thread, but didn't get much of a response. I was hoping that if I refreshed the question specifically in reference to the Moose vs the Glacier setup, that I might get some more participation. I highly value the advice you've given me thus far mtpockets, I guess I was hoping to find out if the improvements that you've mentioned in regards to reinforcements have been incorporated into this year's Glacier 2 mounting plate by Polaris or Moose or whether reinforcing the plate will still be a do it yourself proposition. Thank you for the insight that you have given me so far though.
