most of us that has been running the ebs is used to how it works and like the boys mentioned as long as you keep the clutch engaged a little by using the throttle the wheels will stay turning. but it all depends on the ground your running on as very loose dirt makes it slide no matter what you do. agreed that ADC is the best thiers is as long as you dont forget to put it into awd before before you go down the hill but i have even made 4 wheels slide a little becuase of the ground (very loose soil).

What I have found and got the other boys round doin the same is usin high gear goin down steep, slippery hills. The rear end don't slid as bad and it gives us better control. I had to tell one guy 4 times before he would try it and now he likes it.

Good point hobbles, if you aren't already, use high gear for desents where you can. It gives the tires more leverage on the EBS and should reduce tire slippage.

How do you ascend (to move, climb, or go upward) DOWN a hill?

According to a couple of my owner's manuals EBS is supposed to work better in low gear. It actually says to shift it to low before descending steep hills.

It will work better..that's what the problem is,it works too well and lock up the tires.
So high range would make the EBS not work as well and therefore hopefully not lock up the rear tires.

I have found (for me and our group) That if you are on loose stuff, it really works better in high. But I think every one should try it and make there own decision. I had one friend that fought it and it took him a while before he would try it but he came around to believing in doin it. In low the back end tries to meet the front on steep slippery stuff. I figure I will try most anything twice, just in case I did it wrong the first time. Just my opinion now.

Mornin'. I don't want to creep down a hill really slow so I just use high. I guess I just haven't found the kind of terrain that causes skidding in high, except in the winter. Then you're kind of screwed whether you're using EBS, brakes, or neither. I hear a lot of other people on the forum having problems skidding with EBS but I guess they go slower than I do. I almost always give it more gas to speed up down hills.

We take our atv to Colorado and ride the Rockies. Large boulders and shale gravel very steep inclines are very normal terrain

I've got 230 miles on my '08 500 EFI and I've never had ADC before. I have no idea if it's working the way it is supposed to. I can't tell any difference with it on or off. Should I be able to tell a difference?
It's under warranty so I want it to work but having no other ADC ATV to compare it to , I don't know if it's working as deigned or not.
It definitly does'nt work as well as the 450 Grizzly engine braking in 4WD did.
I live in CO so I know long steep hills well.

Hi Max
From HIGHOCTANE"S post to operate your ADC the following are necessary when the "throttle is at idle, less than 15mph and ADC switched on are met it engages."
