Default How hard is it to change the steering post?

Looks like I need to change out the steering post, as it is bent enough for the headlight pod to hit the tank when turning it all the way.

So, what all will I need to remove to change it?

Depending on model, usually will have to slide tank back or remove for clearance, hardest part usually just getting cotter pin out of bottom of steering post and nut,AGAIN depending on model. Remove tie rod ends at post, remove 2 bolts at upper steering post bracket. Remove bar clamp and lay away.Always replace with new bushings unless new, plus sometimes bracket itself can be bent again depending on how badly post bent.

Thanks for the information. It's a 05 Sportsman 800. It's not bent too bad, I am hoping I can take it out and straighten it. I just made up a handlebar riser for now to get by. I will pull it when the snow gets too deep to ride.

Thanks again.
