Default Moose County Plow 60"

The first several pics show how buried the ATV and my van were. There's a mound of fresh snow on the mailbox and you can see how bad the road was. I took a stock 12" rim and stood it up next to some undisturbed snow, and you can see that there is a legitimate 12" of snow on the ground.

The last three pics were from just today. I'd have taken more pics but the snow and wind was whipping around so bad that the camera was getting wet. We're supposed to get another 4 to 6 inches overnight so I'll have to plow again tomorrow. I'll take some more pics when the weather settles down.

EDIT:

Okay, I sorted out the pics and added some to previous posts in this thread so they make more sense.

Yep, your machine and that plow did an awesome job! That's a lot of snow for an ATV to move.

EDIT: Don't you just love that "lake affect" stuff? LOL

Did you get a good deal on that plow? If so where at?

My dealer had them on hand. Most households where I live have at least one ATV, and a lot of people use them for plowing snow. I don't remember what I paid for the blade, whatever list price was minus 10% because I bought my ATV there. I originally got the whole plow setup from Rocky Mountain ATV in 2005, don't remember what price I paid for it, but they were offering free shipping at the time.

I have a home up the high country of Arizona. The roads to it are gravel with slight tire track depressions and peppered with the occasional partially buried larger rock sticking up an inch or two. How would a blade like that work on snow in those conditions? Would I be moving a lot of gravel on the high areas between the tire lanes? I don't want to lose the little bit of gravel on the roads that is there. Would the top of the rocks catch the blade and damage it or the quad? About what do those blades cost? I also have a skid steer that I have thought about putting on a snow blower as an alternative.

I live in Phoenix and the only thing we worry about in the winter is whether it is 'cold' enough to need to wear long pants with our sandals.

Plowing with a atv is a real bitch unless the ground is good and frozen and the blade doesn't "grab" the larger rock you mentioned. I would not worry about plowing unless it sticks around for a while, but if it melts in a day or 2 then forget it imo.

I wouldn't plow if the blade can catch on anything big. ATVs have been known to flip over or throw the rider if the plow grabs really hard. And the Moose plows are designed to move snow, not dirt or gravel and such. Those things will scratch the paint at a minimum. The whole set up from Moose will be less than $500.

I like the pic of the mailbox. That's what I generally use for a snow gauge. It doesn't snow like that down here very often but it sure used to when I was younger. When I was in the UP in October - November they had a bunch of 10-foot poles stuck in the ground on the shoulder of the roads. That's the only way the road crews can find the side of the road when they plow. And that was the eastern UP where they don't have any lake effect snow. Sheepdog could be up to his butt in snow before winter even gets here.
