I changed my oil at 15 hours, and again at 50, and the most recent time was at 100 hours. Oil is the life blood of your engine, I like to change it before it gets "dirty". And what's 50 hours amount to? Twice a year maybe. I also think you should ride the first 10 hours with ADC in the ON position, and then change the front differential fluid at the same time you do the first oil change.

My manual say's change engine oil for breakin at 10 hours and then, every 20 hours or 800 kilometers(500 miles) witch ever comes first.
There's no aftermarket filters for the xp bikes, dam i took my machine in for its first service and the dealer did not have any filters for the new bikes,**** the sell the bikes and dont order filters had to wait the week and mised my end fall ride because of this.
I mised my begining fall ride cause no body sold insurance for these things too.by the time i can go on a good ride the warrenty will be up.
Oh and the first oil change was, get this" no lube" for my butt.. $120.

Looks to me like the 850 filter is the same as the 800 except it is shorter so it will not protrude through the skid plate. I am willing to bet there is an aftermarket equivelent, the 800 filter is the same as used on 04-09 Nissan Titans(I have 2),and others I am sure. I think the 800 filter may work but it would likely be close to flush with the bottom of the skid. I have several on hand and intend to check it next oil change and see if I am comfortable with it. That would give the oil system another few ounces of capacity, lol.

Just curious, what would be the benefit of doing this?

lobodog, 20 hours between oil changes? That's close to race engine intervals. I had a Honda CRF 250 that called for the engine oil to be changed after each race, or every 10 hours if not racing. The new 550 engine must be a very high revving engine.
miande, the ADC system is comprised of, amongst other components, two clutch packs. ADC locks the front axles by compressing the clutch packs together. Whenever ADC kicks on and off and during use, the friction discs will wear in, thereby shedding some of disc material until they are smooth. This material ends up floating around in the fluid and will stay there until its drained out. Leaving this dirty fluid in the front diff can result in accelerated wear of the clutch packs and other internal components, and could even cause the seals to leak.
The '07 Sportsmans with ADC did not have a switch to turn it off, that feature came with the '08 model line. I won't bother to type it all again, you'll have to dig up some previous posts if you want to read it all, but I suspect having ADC on all the time caused problems with the '07 models, which is why you see the switch on '08 and later models. I added an on-off ADC switch for my ATV, which I believe has and will extend the life of my front differential.
Also, make sure you use the Premium LT fluid, not the regular Premium Demand Drive fluid. ADC equipped front differentials must use the LT fluid. So to answer your question, the benefit of doing what I suggested would be to break in the ADC system at the same time as you break in the engine, and you replace both with fresh fluid at the same time. After that, only use ADC when you need it.
Good luck.

Since I see a question or two coming up about the interval you posted.
My manual covers the 550 and 850 and the maintenance chart covers both. I can only assume it is the same manual you recieved. The manual part # on page 2 is 9921854 It says, on pg. 49, under "break-in", and on pg 70 ,the periodic maintenance chart, 20 hours/1 month/500miles do the break-in oil change. Then,on page 71 on the chart is says "Engine oil change" every 100 hours/6months/1000miles.
Is this a different than manual than what you have?
Personally I do it more often than my manual calls for.
