Just want to share some info with you. The local snowmobile club has an organized 1000' drag strip on our local lake. No times, just speed. Some ATV's that ran:
DS650: 75mph
Banshee: 73mph
Suzuki LT250: 66mph
LT250 with 600 streetbike engine: 90mph!!!
Fastest Snowmobile: 119mph!!
My scrambler: I'll find out tomorrow!
I was going to take some runs today, but I found that without studded tires, getting traction was impossible. So I put 300 sheet metal screws in my rear tires tonight and will see how it works tomorrow! I was a little surprised that the LT250 wasn't any faster than it actually was. I was riding next to him about 20 mph and we both pegged the throttle, but he couldn't pull away from me! The coolest thing I saw all day was a guy on a 400ex that rode a wheelie the full 1000 feet! He obviously didn't care about speed, just style!! I'll post again tomorrow with some more speeds. I'm getting hooked on drag racing real quick! Before long, I'll have a race mod engine from HPD!

Well, I was a little disappointed with my speeds on the Scrambler. First 2 runs were identical at 56.3mph and the 3rd run was 56.4mph. There were also 3 400ex's out there running. Bone stock 400ex without studded tires ran 55.4mph. 440ex with 18 inch studded tires ran only 54.5mph. 440ex with 20 inch studded tires ran 62.7mph. It was pretty funny that the owner's of the 440ex's came back claiming "I don't know why it was that slow! It should have been close to 80!" Also fastest snowmobile today(801+ mod class) ran 137.9mph!! There are speed runs next weekend so I'm going to stud the tires from my Explorer(25") and try them on the Scrambler! I'm thinking it should add about 5mph.

 

Give me some more info. What lake, times, dates, and whatever else. Thanks.

The drags were last weekend at Lake Neshonoc in West Salem. Next weekend there are going to be ice drags in Hillsboro, WI. I plan to go to that on Saturday so maybe I'll see you there!
