the proper way of cleaning anything is to take it apart anyways no matter what you use to clean it. imo.

Default Sta-bil and EFI?????

Carbs are very susceptible to Varnish and Gum (fuel decomposing) due the venting to outside air adding to the ability to evaporate the moisture from the Gasoline. This is further accelerated when you use fuel with ethanol in it which will also allow the fuel to draw moisture.
Fuel injection systems are a closed system and while they still are susceptible to the symptoms of fuel decomposing are essentially a closed system and thus it happens at a slower rate. That still does not negate the need for fuel stabilizers if your machine is going to be sitting for any more than a few days in the colder weather. If you are running it regularly it should keep the contaminants at a low enough and soft enough level that they would be kept at bay only requiring normal maintenance.

The quality of the fuel would also dictate the level of "Normal" maintenance on the fuel system necessary to keep your machine at peak performance.

Anyway that is about all of my .02 on this.
