Neither machine could have been totally Warmed up.

And I am Still working on the Dealer, I like the 08-800 I have( My first ATV) It is Really the EPS and smoother drive train I am looking for. In this economy the dealer has to be crazy to think I would just right off 4k in 6 months. It is my understanding that the EPS models where just knocked back another 2 weeks on proposed ship dates.</end quote></div>

Personally, I think many (but maybe not all) dealers are taking advantage of the "XP feeding freenzy". Even my dealer (who is small) has sold quite a few 850's already, and has several on order. He's also sold a couple 550's.

I think given some time, the madness will slow down, and the dealers will have to deal a little more. Plus, I would think that the other ATV companies will at least try and get something on the market that can compete with all the features that the XP offers... and it has a bunch!

Plus, during that time, the worst thing that can happen is that Polaris can resolve any existing bugs that may appear. In addition, Polaris may even expand the XP line. I for one would love to see a 650/700 twin XP.

Anyhow, that's how I see it, and what I'm hoping for. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]</end quote></div>

I think you are right about the frenzy, but I think it is mainly smaller dealers, not always but mainly. They see it as an opportunity to make a mint. While location can play a part,if the dealers are very spread out it cause less competition. For the most part larger older dealers aren't doing it. They realize that frenzies don't last and they stick to their normal pricing guidlines. "Slow and steady wins the race"

I think the XP line will expand,I don't see how it couldn't really. It is just a matter of how long it takes. They may or may not call all the machines Xp's but they will be based on the design IMO. I'd love to see a touring/X2 version,as well as a scaled down ~400 cc machine. With the easy steering, narrower design I think a smaller 400cc version would sell real well..if they get the price in-line with the current machines. If they make that design the only option and start selling them for near the old syle pricing that would be great.I think if and when the XP design becomes the Sportsman pricing will come down. Right now it is costing Polaris more because they are tooled up to make 2 very different machines. Get rid of the old style and make one basic design and pricing will come down IMO.

BTW-if you don't think people at Polaris read this forum I'd bet you are wrong....

Up here the non EPS XP's are already on sale prices. $7999 I paid $8299 when they first arrived. No one pays MSRP on anything unless you buy an LE model and it's their only one. The CanAm's are the only ones that have outrageous prices.

Hey have they improved upon the known heat issues (melting plastic) with the new 850XP?

It is night and day..there is rarely if ever any detectable heat at all. The exhaust is fully incased in a fiber lined heat shield and it works great.

Like I said above, heat exposure to the rider,or the plastics is rarely if ever noticaceable, and NEVER uncomfortable at all(this is from someone who wrapped the exhaust on the 800 because I couldn't handle the heat)
Now as for engine temps, the fan kicks on and OFF quite often in very slow riding conditions..that doesn't mean it runs too hot as some may think.
So the XP fan might come on more than my 800 did but doesn't run as long. IMO thew temp is more precisely controlled. And the bigger rad cools it down quicker. In no way can you say it runs hotter than it should without a temp gauge installed..my bet is that is does not.
No liquid cooled machine is going to run long at slow speeds and high rpm(in low range the motor is spinning pretty good, its like driving your car down the road in 1st gear for a prolonged period of time...)without the fan kicking on,and if it does that is the machine I would suspect of running too hot...
I welcome my fan kicking on and off...that is it's job.

No, the Browning edition comes with one,not sure about the LE.
The Browning edition can be a bargain if you compare the average good deal price of the Browning and its accessories to the average good deal price of the reg model. At alot of the lower priced volume dealers the Browning isn't alot more that the regualar model considering the included accessories.
