Exactly, nothing worse that having a nice quiet ride with your buds and a group of meatheads flies by you on their ATV's with no mufflers going bwwappp bwwwaaappppppppp. Its annoying.
Do they think they are cool? Whats the point?

Louder is NOT faster or better or more power........ drilling holes in a muffler will NOT give you anything other than a ratty crappy sound and a loss of proper back pressure to make the system work as designed. The second your muffler has a hole in it, it is ruined......

This is why they make tuned aftermarket mufflers

My friends have a few vacation properties on the same 1 mile square. For several years we were able to ride down the road from one place to another without anyone complaining. It's illegal but it wasn't pissing anyone off so we got away with it. Until one guy put a pipe on his Raptor 350. Stock it wasn't loud but with the pipe it could be heard for miles. Long story short - 3 teens got the first tickets of their lives when the cops ambushed them, and we can't ride down the road anymore. All it took was one neighbor to complain about the noise.

by changing the exhaust you change the way it burns. Creating less back pressure will cause it to run somewhat differently.
When I modded my bike with aftermarket pipes and exhaust I also needed to have it re-tuned for optimum performance. Without a retune it ran richer with a lot of "popping" on deceleration.
Losing back pressure really only helps the high end performance IMO. You will sacrifice some low end power to do so as well.
And.. nobody likes to ride witha noisy bike. It isn't so bad when you are on the bike but when you get behind one it sure is annoying.

Now for loud pipes on bikes I run 36in straight 1 3/4 drag pipes and my Harley is a bit loud and yes it has saved me a few time by scaring off deer and it WILL let the old ladies and kids with thumper sound systems know I am around.Bikes are totally dif situation you have to be seen and heard along with drive defensively to stay alive.</end quote></div>
Why do harley riders have tassels on all thier gear?
So they know they are moving.
Jokes aside though.. I used to have a pretty loud GSXR with a CF Hindle pipe with no baffling. It sounded COOL!!! BUT.. it didn't really help too much with people hearing me coming (Other then the cops) as the sound for the most part is directional and sent out the back of the bike.
After riding my new GSXR and riding behind my friend riding my old one I can now say it is effing annoying to ride with anyone with loud pipes. It don't help enough to merit the noise polloution. Now I feel anyone with loud pipes is just looking for the attention.
I have an aftermarket Yoshimura TRC CF pipe on my 2007 GSXR 750 but I left the remoavable silencer in.

drilling holes in the back end of the muffler doesn make it much louder. it does change the way its sounds. if you drill several 1/8 holes you can tune it by putting small screws in it. that is what he is wanting to know..... correct

Clutching is the Secret to adding more Power.</end quote></div>
How does clutching add more power? That makes no sence.</end quote></div>
Polaris detunes the clutching to make the machines a little less aggresive and easier to ride.Once you have an understanding on the CVt you can tune one to your riding style and have a bunch more power where you need it.Or you can get a clutch kit from repuable shop such as RcR or HPD set to what you want by calling and telling them what you want out of your machine.
