checked compression on my 96 xplorer 400 it was showing about 110 psi and as far as i know the engine has never been apart on this bike and it has 1200 miles, but the plug was kinda of oily and i seem to be be having carbuerator problems, ideling a little high and dumpinf fuel out the hose that comes out the bottom of the carb bowl, i can tap on the carb and the idle starts to come down, what u guys think time for a carb rebuid

yeah, the hose is the overflow,so that it does not enter the cyl. and hydo lock+gas out the oil.ebay is the best price and maybe you can ask the seller and he will tell you if it will fit............

the compression is just a little low. a fresh motor should be between 115-120psi but atleast above 100psi. so your good there for a while. the oily plug means that your running a little rich. might check your air screw and make sure its at factory setting (dont have my book infront of me to check what its supposed to be.) the fuel coming out of the bowl means either the float is slightly off or the needle seat/valve are wore and letting fuel constantly flow into the bowl. might jut be able to get away with a good cleaning. just my 2 cents.
