AWD switch
#1
Hello everyone I have what I think is a simple problem but I am stuck without some very pertinent info. I want to Bypass my shifter activated switch for my AWD on my 95 Xplorer. I'm going to try and put in a regular toggle switch on the headlight pod to activate the AWD. I only need to know the function of the four wires coming out if the shifter assembly. I don't have a wiring scematic and can probably figure this out myself given a day or so. I am curious if anyone else out there has done this before and what kind of luck they've had with it. I figure if it's wired right, I will be able to switch from 4wd to 2wd and back with a regular toggle and not have to buy another $100 Polaris part that is a micro switch and 4 24 in wires worth about $12.50. Thanks in advance for any help/input.

Hi
According to my cheap Haynes manual, the wires are as follows.
red and white - power in (12 volts)
green and white - neutral indicator light
purple - reverse indicator light and over-ride switch
gray and white - awd switch and over-ride switch
I hope this info helps.
