I guess everyone has there own opinions about winches......Some guys have had good luck with other brands like Viper, Gorilla and a few others but I've heard of more problems with them than I have with the Warn's or Ramsey's...So I say spend the extra bucks and get a warn....When you're stuck somewhere deep in the woods you'll be happy you have a warn on your machine to get you out.....JMO

Thanks for the info on the winches, I'm planning to get a Warn XT25, no doubt from either "GoWarn.com" or "Rockymountainatvmc.com" where they appear to have good items and prices, including Warn plow systems.

I have not quite convinced myself that the extra $150 - $200 for the Polaris G1 plow system is something I need, although I do admire it's design.

Can anyone relate if the Polaris G1 is something very special or perhaps just a little more convenient for someone just using snow plow for a few months every year??? How hard is the pin system to use in the winter for the "old fashioned" under-carriage system?

Also, has anyone heard of the "Tusk" brand for plow systems? RkyMtnatvmc is presently sold out of a package they sell which includes their Tusk 50" 12 ga. plow, mount, and tube system for $360, which is the lowest package deal I've found so far. Compared to: for about $50 more, I can go all Warn , which has some advantages like 11ga. steel, 54" cyclone style plow along with mount and tubes.

Jumbo, did you refer to your G1 mount that needed to be removed, or was it a predecessor to your G1? The polaris site refers to keeping the G1 mount on all year without it interfering, perhaps this is incorrect? thanks, RHH.

I have the warn (push tube style) plow, and it can sometimes it can be a pain, but most if the time it works great, I think it would be stronger than the G2 for sure, and maybe even the G1

I had to take the CMP mount off or it got all beat to he!!. The G1 stays on all the time and hasn't had any damage yet. I did have to pull a little piece of wood out of the back end of it once. It was so small I didn't know it was there until I had it up on ramps and washed the bottom of the frame off. It took a few seconds to pull it out compared to hours taking the CMP mount off, fixing it, and putting it back on.

I can see why you appreciate the G1 system. Out of curiosity, have you checked out American Eagle Manuf. web site and plows? Over at the other forum on plows, I saw a referral and I have to say I am impressed with their specs and features. Any experience with their products , anyone? thanks in advance.

I haven't even looked at them but hear nothing but good things on the forum. IIRC someone said Tusk is the same thing too.

My old plow mount wouldn't fit the new frame and when I got the Glacier plow in the middle of '06 there was nothing that even compared to it. There wasn't a G1 and G2 either, just a plain Glacier plow. Whenever I get another quad I'll shop around if this plow doesn't fit. If the XPs are as good in the long run as they sound right now I have to get one. I want to trade my truck in for Tahoe, maybe this summer, and have to get that paid off before I get another quad.

yes the warn does have a trip mechanism, and you can adjust it straight, and 2 notches either way
I was slightly worried about messing up the mount plate, and we went on a trip to Kentucky and I left it on, the place went was basically all rock, and it's fine, not even any paint chips so I don't plan on taking mine off any time soon
Yes jumbo the tusk plows are the same as the American eagle

Tyler,

It's interesting that you mention the Tusk and the American Eagle are the same. That's exactly what I was thinking yesterday after seeing the YouTube clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcG0XiMO-kw) done by the techs at RkyMtnatv showing their Tusk mounting system, and comparing it to the catalog pics on the American Eagle site download (http://www.eagleplows.com/catalog1.html).

The design is identical! The pricing is definitely not, with the Tusk package offered at $360 with free shipping, vs over $500 for the Eagle set up.

There may be some unseen material differences I cannot detect. The reviews for the Tusk system on the RkyMtn site suggest the plow mount is weak and needs early repairs, this makes me wonder if there is some mixing of quality in the package they are offering vs. the Eagle. However, some of the Tusk reviewers indicate they are overall real happy with their package. I plan to ask the folks at American Eagle if they supply the Tusk units, this would help to know.
