850/550 EPS steering
Dave, you can feel the clunk when driving very slowly...as Sportsman Rocks said, if the key is off there is no clunking...a little bit of play but no clunking. I think rancher might be right...it must be some sort of switch detecting movement and kicking on the power steering. BTW, the power steering is active when the key is in the accesory position, but he engine is off...however it is on some sort of timer as it will turn off the power steering if it sits too long with the engine off...maybe like 10 minutes.

850/550 EPS steering "clunk
Mark,
Actually, I think Sportsman Rocks said that he "couldn't" fell or hear the clunk when driving? Whatever the case, the EPS is so new it will take a while before folks start understanding how it feels when it's right? You could call your dealer, but I'm sure he will say it's normal (even though he probably won't have a clue LOL).
I believe the new EPS on the Sportsman is supposed to be a "power assist", in that it works at slow speed to aid in ease of steering, but as the speed increase, the power assist is no longer present? Again though... I'm not sure. If that is the case, it is probably engaged as soon as you move it... or when it starts up.
I wouldn't worry about it just yet... wait until you hear more feedback from other EPS owners.
