Check Engine Light - Where Do I Start?
I've downloaded both an owners manual and a service manual.
I've found two ways to get codes however.
One is by holding reverse override and turning the key on and the other is turning the key on and off three times.
Which one is it I should use?
Thanks!

On mine, I think I used the one where you hold down the reverse override and turned the key on. Just wanted to see how it works.
Try it and see if it works... try the other method if it doesn't.
Whatever the case, you need to get the codes to have a starting point.

Check Engine Light - Where Do I Start?

On my 06 500, I have to put it in neutral and hold the yellow button in and turn the key on and off just once, then turn it on and I get the version then I can run through the rest. I don't need to set the break. Your engine light MIGHT be commin on because it's over the first 20 hours and wants an oil change. Mine was set at 20 when I got it new.
WRONG!!
The check engine light blinks when it's time for an oil change, it don't stay on.. My BAD...

If it does point to a sensor doen't think that its bad, check all the conections that they are pushed in good. I think I was getting code 42-46 and found the conections at the ( T-BAP) it is on the black tube going into the air box under the seat was pulled just a little. Alot of vibrations go in here and it just worked free or was not snaped together well. I removed the + bat cable for a short time to clear the code and it has not come back.

I just bought an '07 Sportsman 800 from an individual. It seems to run fine, but the check engine light is lit.
It only has 34 hours on it. How do I start to troubleshoot this?
Thanks!</end quote></div>
