Default Oil change price?

I called my local dealer to ask about a oil change on my 09 500 H.O. x2. They told me $125.00 parts and labor. After I started questioning him he said well thats a front and rear diff service and oil and filter. I told him the bike is new and this would be its first oil change so I wouldn't be needing the diff services. He said well if you want just the oil and filter it would be $115.00. $40.00 for parts and and $75.00 for labor. I tell you what I work at an auto dealer and if we would tell someone that kind of price they would freak. I wanted to be able to prove the maint record of the bike by having it done at the dealer but for that price I'll be doing it myself. What do you guys think.

Just keep the receipts of all the maintenance stuff you buy. Heck, you could video tape yourself doing all the work if you really want evidence.

ya a first service is just the oil and filter and check and top off the other fluids for $90. or more as you see. too me its not worth it and i would buy the correct products and do it your self for alot less money. worse case is buy the products there and keep the reciept and would you be covered. a service is a rip off. imo.

How many hours are on it? I wonder if they included checking the valve adjustment too.

It would be the 25 hr service. I think I'll just buy the stuff and do it my self. Heck $40.00 for oil and filter is high though. I called the dealer I purchased it from and they want $25.00 for an oil change kit but they are 1.5 hrs away the other dealer is 15 minutes away so I guess I'll bite the bullet on that but is it any wonder I didn't buy from them.

If your not aware on your 500 there's a bolt on the bottom side that must be removed to do a complete oil change most likely not listed in your manual . Your find info here oil change #5 I think

The procudure for my 08 500 x2 was listed in the manual, including the 2nd bolt. at the bottom of the crankshaft.
