I have the Battery Minder also over the tender. Just went out & cranked mine after a few days of -0 weather, lowest reading I saw was -28 on thermometer. I had no trouble starting at all, rattled a lil but popped right over. It is a balmy 15 out though now, 7 in garage.
BTW the minder is cheaper here + no shipping. http://www.pacificbattery.com/batteryminder.html

My boys and I were just bringing in wood to fill the woodrack on my deck before snow arrives tomorrow. The X2 started right up. We had 3 nights below zero and it was around 15 when I started it up. I did have to replace batteries in my 2002 Honda Accord and my GMC 2002 Sierra 2500.

We hit -30 Thursday night and -21 Friday night. I went out today (saturday) it was 8 above and the SP500 X2 (efi) started up fine. Ran a little funny for a couple of minutes. I let it run for a good 5-10 minutes before driving.

I purchaced 4 Battery Tenders from Pacific. I'm not trying to start a war between the Minders and Tenders. If you put the lower amperage Tenders on when you get in from ridding, they will keep your battary topped off. The Tenders are .75 Amp output the Minders are 1.3 Amps. The Minders also have the Desulphation on them also. You will not need to Desulphate your battery if you keep it charged. It builds up we a battery sits for long periods without use.
This is my Standard Battery charger. It has the auto Desulphation cycle and also will test your Alternator. Got mine for less than $65 at Bass Pro. They used to sell at Wally World also.
Schumacher SpeedCharger
Also if you have a larger Battery charger DO NOT USE OVER 2 AMPS to charge your smaller Motorcycle Batteries. Even Lawn Mower Batteries should not be charge over 2 Amps.
Here's the link for the 2 Battery Tenders for $48.30

No war, we will leave that to the arabs. Just like in atv's we have a choice of what to buy. Since my friends know I have this it gets borrowed alot. With a total of 8 machines (truck - mower) with batteries, for me, the minder works well for all.

LE850XP,
That is super info, and why a site like this is so great... you get to hear ALL the info. I may rethink my next Battery "fill in the blank" purchase.
