yes you need a ign sorce for the handel bar switch. mine is red and my 500ho carb there is 2 orange/white wires under the front nose cone.

if you follow the fuse block wire/loom you can see where i connected mine.

Mornin turbo777

chuck_raduenz is right, you will have a wire in the pod that will become hot when you turn the key on. It will be loose and you can find it with a tester. Sounds like your good to go.

the wire in the pod is a single wire(red or orange) w/ a rubber end over it which has power when the key is turned on.
