Here is Polaris site that cross references Polaris parts for other models. http://parts.polarisind.com/Assemblies.asp

Shock fits from 2001-2009 on many models.

Maybe the shock was changed in someway but the new replacement shocks still have the same dimensions in every way.

You scroll right and click on "Usage". Its weired in many case even though the Part # is different on many parts the parts are still the same. Recoil starters fo example. The rope Reel for my 2001 has a differnt Part number than a 500 Polris Indy but it works.

Ok I saw that site but it was wierd Its had to understand but ill just try and get a pair if they don't work ill just take them back. All the vin says is year model 02magnum500 but thanks for the reply.
