I've heard of people reaching speeds of over 45 MPH with the 850. Its nuts.</end quote></div>

I'm wondering if that post was serious or not? My 95 400 will hit 45 WAY before it is at top speed. I have never had the guts (or the long straight stretch) to see what it's top speed is, but it is more than 45. I don't know much about ATV's... is 45 fast for an ATV (or a 400)? It didn't shock me, but I am used to my motorcycle, which can get to 100 before I even notice I'm speeding.</end quote></div>

Government limits atv's to go past 80mph.Your 400,which I have the same motor in my quad should run low to mid 50's.</end quote></div>

So you say its got a limiter at 80mph on the 850?

Most likely yes.But there isn't a limiter per say,it's all in the gearing of the sprockets.

Think of it this way.I could go out and spend 2 grand at Aaaen performance for there stage 5 440 big bore kit to use on my Scrambler. The low end torque and acceleration will be amazing but I won't gain more than 5 mph on topend because of gearing.
