Spark plugs (High performance)
All -
I'm told from a work friend that he added a particular spark
plug to his Sportsman 800 and a trail where he would burn
a full tank of gas he claims he now only burns half a tank.
I never heard this from anyone as of yet. He finally got me
the spark plug number: NGK-BKR7E (supposedly found at most
auto stores?) Anyone try this before?
Thoughts/opinions?

Could be Rtick, that plug is a premium plug and it probally burns fuel better than the others, I dont know about a 50 percent increase though, I used to run the Splitfire plugs in all my vehicles and they worked great on Mileage and performance was increased, NGK is the only way to go even if they are made in Japan, I use NGK in all my Bikes.

I,m with the Idea a spark is a spark, cheap plug or expensive. Once the gas fuel is compressed in the chamber and meets a spark its going to all burn not partiality burn. If you want a hotter plug you can still by a cheap plug but with a hotter number.
The advantages of excessive plugs in automobiles is they can go for thousands of miles longer before needing replacement. If there was a gas milage and performance increase it would be very well known by now by everyone.
If your ATV does 60 MPH and 100 miles on a tank, no plug change is really going to effect those numbers,it would just be to good to be true.

I just installed a set of IRIDIUM IX (BKR6EIX) in a Sportsman 600 that would not run hardly at all in the extreme cold.It fires right up now and runs great..Also run the IRIDIUM IX IN out two Sportsman 500 EFI Deluxe..(BKR7EIX)

I agree with TLC. There are some plugs that have silver cores and 0 resistance that may give a hotter spark but unless you have some heavy mods, you won't see a difference. Although fresh plugs always seem to help.
My guess is your friend had 2 beers before the plug change and a couple more after the plug change thereby resulting in a 50% improvement of everything looking better.

Yea, I doubt anyone could feel any "seat of the pants" improvement by installing an Iridium spark plug or notice any significant improvements in mileage. However, I do think they have some advantages... I use them whenever I can an exact match. If nothing else, it makes me feel good.
