Yep, it's a good heads up nonetheless.
The more I read, ride, and talk with other riders, the more I am coming to the conclusion that staying stock, or close to it is not a bad idea.</end quote></div>
Not a bad idea at all. For the least trouble, you really should only change the minimum to make the machine suit your needs IMO.
On the Xp,even the stock tires as much as we complain about them will suit the majority just fine I would bet. But I bet they are/will be the number 1 "mod"to suit needs.
I change stuff because that is part of the "hobby" to me, I tinker with stuff..lol..and i like to ride hard. The stuff I was doing yesterday would have tested a sport quad,or at least been more suited to it...but IMO it was way more fun doing it on a XP..just to do it. I swear you could see the looks on the guys faces that were out on the powerline clearings on utility ATVs when I'd come by trailing dirtbikes on the trail..priceless..lol
For most people the XP, Polaris accessories of choice and maybe a better set of tires and it will be a trouble free jewel of a machine.

That's exactly what I'm thinking... add some Guru Brush Guards to that list... and off ya go.

Good info..you can imagine if the stock tires rub larger tires can hit the tab with some force when working the suspension hard. My concern with what I was doing, coming down hard on the front end,is the tires hitting with enough upward force to crack the plastic somewhere...I could hear the tire lugs grabbing the tab over my HMF exhaust..at first I thought it was tools beating around in the front storage box..once I realized what it really was I became more concerned..didn't sound real good, lol. Slight rubbing likely isn't a big deal, but hitting the tabs with alot of force, especially with large lugged tires like the XTRs, might be,the plastic seems pretty tough though, more than anything the noise is annoying.
