Default Quadovator Fan Switch Mod

After installing the fan switch mod, if I switch the fan on before the quad kicks the fan on, the engine overheat message flashes. If I switch the fan on when the quad has already started the fan, I do not get the message until the temp drops down to where the quad switches the fan off. Anyone one else get this? Is it okay? I also added the temp gauge and 3 light mod. All work great. If this is not the sign of a problem, I would say I am VERY satisfied with the products. Price: maybe high, but I am also paying them for their knowledge and time. Thanks.

I dont have any of their products but have read countless reviews and havent heard anyone mentioning what you are experienceing. The guys say that they are very helpful on the phone so I would give them a call and see what they tell you. After all you are paying for the time and knowledge

Ditto to Rowe's comments. I emailed Greg (I think he was floodrunner right?) and he answered back
with very helpful technical info. for me. Great guy and I had my next order multiple products and he
gave me free shipping cuz of my extra business I threw his way. Great customer service, I will be
buying more products, no doubt!

Quadovator Fan Switch

I have this product as well, and have the same issue. Exactly as you describe on the post. I'm not sure why it does it either. I also have the 3-light mod and haven't had any issues with it.

Have you heard anything back from Quadovator? if you don't mind letting me know your findings. That would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure it's not a big deal....but it is one of those little things that gets to a guy!

If you can get back to me. Thanks!

Default Quadovator Fan Switch Mod

Greg got back with me via e-mail. This is what he wrote:

I can't remember, what year and motor is your machine? The anomaly you describe is a known problem with the late model 500s but only two twins have shown up with it so far (an MV7 and an early 600). If yours is a twin it would be #3. For this reason I always try to warn people about it before they buy if they have a 500. You've described exactly what others have experienced. It seems after about 20 seconds of the fan being turned on manually the hot light starts to blink, whether the engine is running or not. Polaris put so many different ECMs on these (and recalled many of them) it just depends which box is on it.

Honestly, this mod is really all about the light, not the switch. I've been riding with this mod for three years now (first on a 700 then on my 800 and also a Ranger and RZR) and have never found a single situation that turning on the fan manually would offer an advantage. The stock system does a great job of turning the fan on when needed and keeping it on until things cool down. We had requests for a manual fan-on switch but I hesitated to build/offer it for the reasons above. Then when the idea for the fan-on indicator light surfaced I needed a dustproof waterproof light. It turned out I already had just the thing on the shelf but it was a switch with a light in it, so you get both even though the switch function is of dubious value. We haven't seen any ill effects from using the switch to turn the fan on but if you're concerned about it you can disable the switch so the light will still function by not hooking up the red wire.

There is also a way to make it work with no hot warning light by installing a diode to block current from the ECM. The diodes are about a buck from Radio Shack. If you want I can tell you how to do it.
