Why haven't any of the quad manufacturer's such as Polaris, Yamaha etc., come out with a Gps unit built in to their machines? It seems to me like it would be a good selling point! Or at least an option for customers!
Any thoughts?

The Honda FourTrax Rincon Gscape has a gps integrated into the instrument pod.
Personally, I prefer a hand held Gps unit of my own choosing. I can take it off the quad and use while hiking, in the car/truck/motorcycles, etc. Plus, when it dies, I can get a replacement that will likely cost less and have more features than the previous model. When your built-in gps dies, you're stuck buying a factory OEM replacement for big $$ and limited features.

I prefer a handheld too. If I'm not mistaken the honda GPS is just an arrow. An electronis compass you can say. I like the gps with the topo maps loaded onto it.

I still think that it is a good idea to have it built into the atv because then you always have it when you mabey thought that you would not need it along.. you could still bring with your handheld unit for better use off the atv and to plot trails while on the atv too. As long as they dont charge you too much for it built in that is.

I'd rather have a hand held GPS. And I do. When I'm done riding I bring it in and no one can steal it.

Time ........only time.............They will for sure .........
Even now a 12 volt outlet is on most every Quad I see......
Not too long ago we needed to hook one up to the acc. or the Battery directly......Caper.........

I look for it down the road. They are probably holding out cause of the price. Auto manufacturers are putting more and more of them in there cars at the factory so prices will eventually come down low enought that it would be reasonable to put them in an atv. I have the Garmin Rhino and use it a lot. Never for finding my way home but I have built an awesome map of the gas well roads and gas lines around the house, then in hunting season it is 10x easier to tell people where to go and how to get there.
