Has anyone ever noticed that when you are pulling your atv uphill with the winch, if you stop and let the winch hold it, it will slowly release and the cable will go back out?

Or is it just my winch?

 

My 1500 lbd Warn does not do that.

 

I have plans to get a new Bigger polaris in the future. Hopefully sooner than later. When I get it I will probably just get the winch as a package that way if there are any problems then it is their deal.

I will keep this 500cc atv for the G/F and yard work and plowing since it is all set up. The bigger one will be my rider and stuff.

 

I am curious, does the ******-pulley have to be some kind of weight RATED? I ask b/c when I bought some chain
shackles they were rated at 1500-2500 lbs and winches and straps etc.

R, the ****** blocks are rated just like winches and chains, etc.

****** blocks are also useful for changing the direction of a pull, like when I winched a friend out at an angle, but you don't double the pulling power when you do that.

 

One note on ****** blocks I didn't see in this post. If using synthetic make sure you get a ****** block with a solid pulley. On ****** blocks with pulley's that are two piece (split in the middle) the rope can get pinched in the pulley.

 

i bought 2 ****** blocks from kfi 8000lbs rated for 12 each plus shipping could not pass up that deal

 

If I could just add a little info......Just be careful if your block has a double sheave, which means the pulley is 2 pieces joined at the middle... When using synthetic that seam can damage the rope at extreme pressures......If at all possible try to get a block with a single sheave(pulley is 1 piece).
