I had the same thing happened to me it was the square rubber key chain getting caught on the gas cap so i replaced it with a coiled wrist cord never happened again. If you don't trust the dealer's service i would look for another service dept.

Very true about the service departments. Not always malice though. Sometimes they really dont know. Its always best to come in with service bulletins in hand and guide them to exactly what you think the problem might be. Thank God for websites like these.
The 3 times my quad died on my i had no key chain, just the dealer key. Warm day in the sierra nevada. Putting along at 15mph in the middle of nowhere, when she cut off. Would come right back on so i let her sit for 10 sec, and it fired right back up. Same scenario next 2 times. Just had it reflashed so i havent had a chance to try it out again (snow) Ill post when i do.
