Ever try to paint your plastic?
#1
I am thinking of painting my quad a flat black. It is Sage Green from the factory and I've already removed all of the decals.
I have been trying different things out on the back side of the front panel, including the "Fusion" paint that is supposed to be for plastic. That bonded OK, but not great.
I have now tried some automotive primer that seems to stick real well. I figured a coat of primer, then two-three color coats and a couple clear coats oughta do it.
Is this doable or should I go pay a pro?

the only thing i would worry about is it flaking off when the plastic got distorted. if the paint sticks well and had some flexability like latex paint i think it would be ok

Just make sure you you clean and prep the plastic really good and use some adhesive promoter with flex agent. I've had mine painted for almost 3 years or longer. Heres some pics. I have more in my sig.

You'd be surprised how well the Krylon Fusion plastic paints work....... I've painted several plastics now with this stuff and it works great for something from a can. A little basic prep work (slight scuff to take off the shine) and many light coats and the stuff will stick forever.
