2008 800 HO Tranny Issues
Hey guys got one for you. Riding the other weekend in low under no load. Popped like it came out of gear after that low is gone. There no grinding clunking or anything. High still pulls fine but its like I have two neutrals now. Anybody else had this prob. Thanks for all the help.

bikes out of warranty. not really wanting to pay what there gonna charge either. Some one told me that the low gear will actually spin off the shaft. but can be pressed back on and even put a tack weld on it to keep it from happening again. ever heard of this?</end quote></div>
I have heard of it..sound like a good possibility that is your problem from your description.
If you press it back I would imagine you need to tack weld it or it will just happen again..easier than it did the first time.

I don't think it is a common problem at all..just one of those things that can happen. I'm not sure if I have heard of it happening on an 08..some of the earlier machines 05/06's. Also it seems to be most of the machines that havew it happen are running large tires..I do think it has been something that Polaris has been made aware of and you might at least try to get the dealer to see if polaris might do something about it..likely not but you never know unless you ask right?
Edit-here is a link to some pictures on how to fix it.

Also instead of welding some guys make a spacer to go between the gear and the bearing to keep it from moving.

And a little FYI. Pulled the tranny last night and sure as **** the low gear on the shaft had moved about 1.5 inch just enough to not mesh. Already have to gear moved back into place. Hopefully will tack it today. Looking at the parts inside the tranny it really looks like polaris used some really heavy-duty stuff. i've got over 300 miles of really HARD riding and there's not signs of wear at all. Really surprised me.
