Default over charging sp 500

hello i have a 2003 sportsman 500 that is over charging when at idle it is 13 volts but when you rev it up it is putting out up to 18 volts at times what should i start with i have looked at past posts and i think the regulator but i dont know

i would definatly check the regulator. easiest way is to trade witha buddy and see what happends.

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] If over charging (past 15volts) will fry battery if reg/rectifier not changed out! battery usually will get hot and cells will short out over a short period of time!

is thear any way to test to find out for shure i dont have any frends with polaris to swap the parts to try them

its most likely got to be the recifier thatis bad since that is what controls the amount of voltage. imo.
