Stripped Oil Drain Bolt
#1
I went to change my oil on my 525 and noticed the drain bolt was not very tight, which I thought was odd, but it wasn't leaking. When I got the filters changed and went to put the plug back in it never tightened up. I knew this was trouble, now I can't back it out it just keeps turning. My so called dealer was the last to do the oil change on it so I assume there lies the problem. It is out of warranty and only has 21 hrs. on it. Does anyone have any options and what does it involve?

I would take back to the shop a tell them they are responsible IF they did it. It needs to be drilled out and re tapped and a larger drain plug bolt put in. I would have a reputable shop take care of it unless you know how. Probably would have to flush out the engine with oil to make sure there are no shavings left behind.

Try locking bolt with vicegrips, turn while pulling down or if that fails Sears has bolt extractors that may help. After removal probably need to helicoil or timesert (better repair IMO) If its the allen head bolts (2) drain plugs, extractors made for these also. IF think dealer is responsible,TAKE IT BACK!!
