I am needing new tires for my 05 700 sportsman.I mostly slow trail ride so speed is no importance to me.Mud,snow and hills are the main riding I do.I was thinking of going to a 28" tire with aluminum wheels ,a 2" lift and a reclutching to utility type use basically low end grunt.I do not need any top end for the riding I do.Any suggestions ???? how about the type of clutching I should do.

I would reccomend either the maxxiss Zilla, or the mudlite XTR's, these are both very nice tires, and both have lugs right around an inch, so they're not terribly aggressive
As for the clutching I'll leave that to someone else, I don't have much knowledge in that area

I have always run mudlites, they are great in snow and mud and not too rough on hard pack. My only complaint is that the sidewalls cut easy in rocky terrain. I think my next set may be the maxxis zillas, or gbc grim reapers (8 ply). It will be a while, though.

I have dalton clutches in both of my sportsmans and am glad I did it. You will lose a lot off the line without a clutch kit, may also be harder on the belt? I know some have gone with heelclicker, but have heard some bad things about them, never heard anything bad about dalton.

ITP is one of the sponsors of this forum and they do have good products. I would check them out.

ITP Mud Lite XTR or the ITP Terracross are great choices.

I ran XTRs with a HeelClicker on my '05 700. The clutch made a huge difference. I never had any issues with the clutch kit. The XTRs on the otherhand, I was not so fond of. I punctured my sidewall on my very first trip out. I also didn't think they performed as well in the snow as I would have liked.

Go with a zilla or mudbug. They are lighter and better in the mud and snow than most tires. Will do ok on trails also.

I just picked up a set of Dirt Devil II XT's - 26" and they are awesome! 1 1/8" tread on these bad boys, and cheap for a big 6 ply tire, i was gonna get a 27" but with the tread being that big i left it at 26" and my quad sits 2" higher lol, so im lovin the extra ground clearance, very happy that i picked these ones
