A couple of microlams, yah know the boarding above garage doors? Two will do the trick, a former friend of mine used to load his sportsman 500 up into a Ford F-350 with lift kit, and believe me, scared the **** out of me going up!!

I got my ramps from - Discountramps.com and like them because I wanted longer ramps with my higher truck.

Coscto has them for something like $99 folding and alum. I spent $150 for mine years ago before Costco had them. Look for them on line at Costco.com I would think they would be there?

Never mind there $99 each that includes free shipping!</end quote></div>

Yeah, $200 is alot to spend on ramps and they ony have 1000# limit for two. The link I posted previous is only 109.00 1700#. I live in SD and have to drive 3.5 hours to get them so harleyowner should be able to get that way if he wants to. HARLEY OWNER do you have an eight foot bed on the ranger? I'd imagine you have a 6.5' quite a load with a wheeler in the back not alot of room for ramps and other gear, but if you don't go far no big deal.</end quote></div>

its a 8 ft box.. its the only reason i got the pick-up so i dont have to trailer a wheeler with our town n country..yea thanks for the ideas tho guys i'll get somthing together... i liked the part about grip.. with plain wood it does get a bit slick..

Another thing you want to think about is some way to tie the ramps to your truck when loading. There have been alot of people hurt when their ramps fell off their tailgates.</end quote></div>

Absolutely. It only takes a minute or two to secure the ramp to the tailgate and it is much safer.

Back in the day I used two sections of salvaged bridge planking. The planks were creosote treated and were 4 or 6 inches thick and about 16 inches wide. Made great ramps but they were heavy.

Once I was loading my ATV and both of them slid backward and kicked out. Not fun.

My buddy has a ramp, I don't as I'm very new to ATV-ing (5 ride virgin and old to boot). I guess mid-life crisis. I don't want to spend the $150.00 on a ramp. I'd rather put that towards a trailer. I always tie the ramp to the tie-down rings on the RAM 250 (both sides). I'm too old to have an "Ole Charlie" incident. I plan on purchasing a 6x14 trailer soon as it's too much work taking it on and off the truck by myself.

Making ramps out of planks and the sort seem to be counterproductive in my eyes. They would have no traction and wood is heavy. I like to work smarter not harder. I

Remember: I'm an ATV virgin so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I know I have the least experience here :-)

Something else to consider if you're not keen on driving it in and out of the truck bed yourself. Install an eye bolt or something similar to the front of the bed and winch it in and out. Works fine and gives just about the right tension for respooling your winch after you've been using it on the trail.
