Default Stripped oil-drain plug - HELP!

Drive a torx bit in it and use an impact screw driver, you'll have to get it off the ground quite a ways so you can hit the imact screwdriver with a hammer.

Sounds like you have the same problem I posted yesterday. I like Cody's answer. Take it to the dealer for an oil change. Let them figure it out. Your problem is its already stripped out. That is what I was afraid of doing to mine. I'll just have to check it when I get it back from the dealer and make sure it loosens up then.

First of all not sure why our Polaris Engineers would make the 2008 SP800 drain plug to be an 6mm allen-wrench Vs. Hex-head like my SP450.</end quote></div>

The reason is, a bolt head is easly stripped out because lots of people would use a cresent wrench, or a channel locks, or a pliers. The idea of the hex bolt is so you HAVE to use the proper tool.

I'm wondering if you used the wrong size allen wrench, the reason I say this is because it is next to impossible to strip those heads out except for one situation.

I'm not saying your bolt didn't have an imperfection but I do remember having to clean out mud in the bolt head with a pick so the hex tool would go in all the way. If I wouldn't have cleaned out the head I too would have stripped it out because like you said it is in there really really tight.

Good luck, and next time make sure its in all the way, or you could just put in a regular bolt in, I'm sure NAPA or something would have a suitable replacement.</end quote></div>

A couple of points he makes is Very true in MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CLEANED THE ALLEN HEAD OUT COMPLETEY AND HAVE THE TOOL BOTTOMED OUT IN the allen head. you will have less chance of stripping. i have seen a few allen bolts even w/ the tool all the way in strip, but the bolt was almost welded into the hole and required heat to take it out. using heat on the outside area of where the bolt goes in and not heating the allen head bolt.imo

There's not much room to work with on the drain plug, if you're uncertain, take it in to the dealer, they have the tools. Next, go to the auto store and buy your self and regular 6mm drain plug, I did the same on my son's dirt bike, after he hacked up the oem plug

Like others said I would try the torx first. If that don't work I would then notch it with the dremel and use an impact screwdriver. Those things work wonders. If that dont work you may have to drill the bugger out and see if one of those easy outs work. I would also try heating it like Stendori said. Don't get to worked up big R' you'll get it out!!!!
