Default Magnum Overheating

I have a 1995 Magnum 425 4x4, after riding for about 5 minutes, the "hot" light comes on. The radiator is clean, with coolant. I have bypassed the temp sensor in the radiator, so the fan runs constant. My last guess is the thermostat.. but wanted help before i spent the 60 dollars?? Any suggestions?

Plus where is the best place to get parts? This is a reclomation project, I also need a chain guard?

Thanks

check to see it the hose is hot(carefully not to get burned) as it wouldnt be if the therm. wasstuck closed or worse case take it out and test it by puting it in a pan of hot water to see if it opens. just a thought.

I took off the thermostat, ran it, and it still got hot. I even put the thermostat in boiling water and it popped out.

What's next?? The head gasket? or water pump? It looks like I have to remove the engine from the frame to rebuild the pump?

any suggestions? how hard it this?

Hope your not working for nothing because of some faulty hot light indicator. Any time I have seen a Polaris over heat the first sign is water boiling over at the reservoir bottle. If it was the pump, coolant would come out off the weep hole as a warning. Run the ATV with the rad cap off and look to see if the coolant is flowing.

I have been driving my Ford F-150 for 3 years with the "Check Engine " light on.

when i start it the light is off, then the light comes after 5-10 mins. i let it sit with the fan on, light goes off... ride it for 5-10 everything repeats...

that tells me it is working. the light isn't on all the time and it goes off when i shut her down?

make sure ur radiator is full of coolant and top off ur bottle, and then try it, just trying to keep things simple before we get into electrical work

Thats what I,m saying, besides the light is there any other sigh of over heating. Could just be a bad senor causing the light to come on even if the ATV is not running hot.

Thats my sure fire indicator of a Polaris over heating, they blow coolant out of the coolant reservoir bottle cap when they over heat.

the bottle doesn't overflow. but i am shutting it down when the light comes on. should i keep pushing it to get it to overheat? i have no other signs of overheating.

i am really pleased with how powerful it is and how fast. that is why i am going to all this trouble!!!
