fan on 2000 500 scrambler

Default fan on 2000 500 scrambler
i was doing work on my scrambler the ofter day and noticed that when the fan comes on it blows on the engine not on the rad, is this how it's suppost to work to draw air in when driveing? any help or ideas is greatly wanted
thanks in advance for any input

Default fan on 2000 500 scrambler
Yes,it cools the engine and draws cold air into radiator for the same purpose
