I take it you have seen the stuff that builds up in a fuel filter! Todays fuels are not as clean as many might think..and the fact that many ATVs don't have an easily replaceable filter only makes matter worse...
I use Sea Foam and Lucas injector cleaner in my ATV alot more often than I do in autos..

Also, I rather stay away from the Electronic Fuel pumps..........There a PITA if you ask me ..............................Not just on ATV's but with older cars/trucks when you need to drop the tank to change them. Remember the mechanical ones on the side of the engine?

I know I need to change with the times ,But everthing is great when new and working good......

Next you will see "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" on the Quads, and they already have scanners to plug in to troubleshoot them.

I just hope when they do there will not be over 100 codes that can turn them on!!!....LOL...LOL............................Cape r........

Yes HO... I've seen the crap in the fuel filter... if that's what you want to call it. LOL My "fuel filter" (cough cough) is a tiny piece of round tubing about 1 1/2" long and 1/4" in diameter with a little "spec" of red filtering media... what a joke! LOL Maybe the one on the EFI's is a bit more stout, and would actually filter something.

With that in mind, like you, I run Lucas, or Sea Foam, and more recently Star Tron in every tank.

No need for a reader really..,unlike most autos these machines will display the codes.

On the 850 XP there is about 73(Some of which only apply to EPS) if you you count the combinations of the Suspect Paramaters and Failure Mode Indicators..pretty cool actually because it narrows down the problem alot further without a "code reader" than previous machines did.

I thought the extra connector under the Speedo pod was for a connection the dealer can use to troubleshoot also?
This must require a special reader.....Correct?

73 codes Ho!!y Cr@p.........that's alot considering there are no mass air flow and other sensors you would find on a car........
.........Caper.........

Yes there is a diagnostic connector..the dealer uses trhe "Digital Wrench" software to access all kinds of data through that port..including the codes..
Well there are about 73 combnations..think of it this way each sensor has several ways of failing..it could be shorted to ground, shorted to voltage, open ect..so while you may only have 20 or so "codes" there are sub codes to tell you exaclty how the component/sensor is failing.
