winch cable replacement

Default winch cable replacement

anyone know if the winch needs to be removed in order to replace the cable or can you just let it all the way out and take it off

on mine there is a set screw... after you unwind it take it out.. piece of cake.. i do not kno if yours is the same.. but i just put my synthetic rope on... its sweet!

my warn has a small key that the cable wraps around. pull it tight, wind it up. your done.

You my want to let us know what you are riding, if the winch was after market or stock, and what size/brand it is. This will give us a better chance to give you info that you can use.

then yours is like mine. if you ush on the cable though the drum. there will be a small key(like a flat 1/4" round dot). is what is in mine. but then when i took the cable out the first time and pushed on the cable i lost the key. but i got a replacment from warn...
