Default Adjusting Shocks on 2002 Sportsman

The manual says shocks are adjustable IE; firm , med, soft is there a special way to do this or specific tools needed. suspension is very soft.
Took Atv to dealer and they didn't know how, wont go back charged me $250 to change engine oil & diff oils. My neighbour a aircraft mechanic, had to remove drain plug and remove teflon tape the dealer had put on drain plug, to get it to stop leaking. Atv only has 850miles on it.
Also would like to tackle job of draining rad and changing coolant.and checking belt wear ?

well the rear shocks are adjustable by using a spanner wrench(can be done w/ a big pair of channel lock pliers) and by taking the full weight off the suspenion in the back so it turns easier. if you look at them you will see knotches where they can be turned to increase spring pressure. sounds like its one of those dealers to stay away from. if you drain the antifreeze just make sure you get 100% of the air out of the system and replace it w/ a 60/40 or min. 50/50% premix of the antifreeze.
