That's about correct with trees 1/2 to 3/4. We keep about 30 sec to a minute apart because of dust. We mostly ride in the woods and the trees do affect them. It does take some getting used to with the mic touching your lip. It senses the vibration which turns them on. By no means are they 2 way radios. They are hands free helmet communicators made for groups riding together. BTW were you running them at full or half power for reception?

I have Garmin Rino's . They are GPS and Radios. I will be getting throat mics soon. The nice thing about these is then you key the mic you show up on every one elses gps so they know where you are!

3 Polaris, I have the rino 520 and love these radios. All the guys from our camp got them and it puts my mind at ease when hunting with my dad and his buddys. They are only in there 50s, but where we hunt the hills are nasty. We call the one Cardiac Point. I was looking into the FireFox micss, and ear tubes buy havent got them yet. Will you PM me when you get yours and let me know what you think about em. I mainly wanted them for hunting, but if they work good for riding I may get my wife a Rino, and mic. Maybe do a writeup like Rincon did. They would be extremely helpful to all us guys looking into getting 2 way communicators.
