Default Collett Helmet communicator review w/pics Got to love gadgets

Here is a writeup that MickJP asked for. I did for the RinconRiders.com site about the Collett system. Have been using them for almost a year now & love them.

It takes time to get them set up correctly. We have found the the older ones can be better at times then the never ones. My new one works just as good as my 2 older ones.

I would love to have something like this. I would feel 10x better when riding with the wife. They are a little pricey. Probably wont be getting them anytime soon. They should have a special 2 pack.

They do not work that good unless every one has resistor spark plugs. EX. NGK BR8ES not B8ES with anything electroic.

The R is NGK "R" or resistor spark plugs use a 5k ohm ceramic resistor in the spark plug to suppress ignition noise generated during sparking.

NGK strongly recommends using resistor spark plugs in any vehicle that uses on-board computer systems to monitor or control engine performance. This is because resistor spark plugs reduce electromagnetic interference with on-board electronics.

They are also recommended on any vehicle that has other on-board electronic systems such as engine-management computers, two-way radios, GPS systems, depth finders or whenever recommended by the manufacturer.

Even a guy riding near you without R plugs will cause your two way to act up.

We never have a problem and keep our quads stock. We are 4-5 guys that have them & use them every time we ride in Dunbar meaning once to twice a month for about 8 hours each time & between 125 to 200 miles. Our group has 2 800's 1 xp850 and a Honda TRX250EX, a 95 Fourtrax and a prior Rincon (ME) if that answers your statement TLC? The biggest problem people have it that they do not take the time to set them up correctly and give up because they feel they are not working correctly.
