Default scrambler 400 questions

I have rode a Polaris sportsman 500 sense 98 and I have wanted a smaller funner quad. The wife has a 2005 scrambler 500. well i was at an auction saturday and picked up a 99 400 scrambler for a grand. I was wondering about upping the hp numbers. I looked at hot seat performance and aaen. what would you guys recommend. thought about pipe clutching to start with. It has a k&n air filter on it now.
thanks any information would be appreciated

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Ritter is a HPD dealer too and in cases will point you to HPD parts instead of his IF that is the best way to go for what you are wanting

Had 3 of those 2 stroke screamers, all the aftermarket exhaust companies can get the motor to wake up, it is the clutching that you will notice the best gain. I had 3 different pipes, clutching, sprocket set ups, the real sleeper is the motor, once you get the revs up, that 400 motor would go sailing by my 800, and all day, plus those 400's are very nimble to ride on
