1987 Polaris Cyclone
#1
hello i'm new here so...hello.But what I am really here for is I just bought a polaris cyclone ran great but would not move (reason Being it had a clutch kit and he did not give it enough gas) my question is will this ruin my tranny or will it hold up okay? Because I had A TrailBoss and my tranny went?

Welcome to the forums.
Sounds like it has the wrong kit for sure. If you can get it back to stock, and possibly just change the primary spring to a white, you should be ok.
I'm sure ftwflh would have the clutch answer for sure.
Get the clutch worked out and you'll have a nice little screamer.

Well, check the tranny fluid, just to be safe. When you say they weren't giving it enough gas, about how far on the throttle, or a estimate of the rpm range did it take to move it?

Sounds a little too high in the rpm range. Could be they tried to make a clutch kit from another model work in it. If it's taking that much just to move it, I'd be more worried about the motor than the tranny.

Again, ftwflh is what I'd call an expert on the clutch of the 2 stroke Polaris. I'm sure when he sees this, he give you some solid answers.

They have a higher engagement from the factory, due to the pipe and porting. Personally due to to vintage, I would go thru the clutch to see how healthy (wear) it is. I want 1 of these where are you and would sell it? Also check engine mounts and belt for starters. Doc
