Protective gear

Anyone using protective gear other than their helmet, goggles, gloves, boots?
I was looking at the chest protectors and neck collar thing. How effective are
these things? Does it inhibit your riding? As you all know I ride my Sportsman, I hadn't
yet checked on the Polaris stuff yet.
Pros/Cons?
Thanks for your opinions and insights!

imo i think that you dont need that stuff.. i grew up racing dirtbike and work a chest protector and gear but on 4x4 quads i think a helmet is good enough... i guess it does depend on how fast you go around corners for your flipping over factor.. but i wouldnt wear one... helmets good enough for me

Helmet & goggles , gloves, heavy jeans, Long sleeve shirt or jersey, good boots. The helmet for if I fall off, the rest of the stuff for the brush, limbs, and blackberry bushes! I agree with the "don't jump" with the 800. Thought it was a bump, didn't realize the other side was straight down. Had enough speed that I did get some air and didn't just drop the front wheels off and endo. But 800 pounds of Popo & 300 pounds of ME landing wasn't HAPPY!!!

'R.....I think it depends how aggressive you ride. I putt around and once in a while get the '07 X2 500 up to 50mph or so. (Not too much above so.) I use a helmet, gloves and glasses or goggles. My type of riding doesn't warrant a chest or neck collar thingy. It seems that the chest protector would be a bit restrictive.....never have worn one. I do wear a helmet loading the quad on my truck every time also. I learned that from "Charlie" on Youtube.

The chest protector- after the first couple times of wearing one you won't even notice it there. Let's say you roll your quad on top of you(which is not uncommon) and you land on rocks. That chest protector is going to be a major piece of plastic between your body and rocks. Let's say that you roll into trees, that plastic COULD be the difference between being pierced by a stick and not. As for the neck roll, that might be a bit much, although in case of a roll over your head/neck will not hyper extend or anything.
In my opinion, dress for the crash, not the ride.

I ride with helmet, boots, gloves, goggles, long sleeves and jeans.
I'd like a jersey and maybe some trousers but I've never seen a line that doesn't make you look like a circus clown with all the colors and logos.
