Default sport quad

I have a buddy that is looking for a new atv. He is looking for a sport quad, he is about 6'3" and is 300lbs i think. He has never rode a quad that you have to change gears on. He likes to play in the mud but wants to be able to go fast, he has been looking at the 450's sport quads. Any info would be very helpful as far as which one if any or would he better with something like hondas 700xx.

Thanks bigdwk88

I would look into the YFZ 450, and the Honda 450R those are 2 of the more popular 450's out there, my buddy has a 450R, and let me tell you, boy that thing can rip, if I need my "speed fix" I just take his for a spin

At 6' 3" and 300 lbs and never owning a quad with a manual clutch your friend might be more comfortable on a Renegade 800, KFX 700 or the new Honda 700 sport quad than on one of the 450 racers.I'm 6' tall, around 160 lbs and my YFZ450 fits me like a glove.

For a big guy, DEFINITLy check out a DS650. Lot of good word toward them from large guys. Downside is they have no reverse. But you can pick up an X package for 2000 bucks. 2003 I hear is one of the best years. They got rid of the first few years problems (2000-2002), but there before the 2004 model year they changed the A-arms to something different. I dont remember what it was but people didn't like them as much. Thinner or something of the like.

He should definately look into one of the bigger bore bikes the other guys all gave great examples.. That big a guy would look like a circus clown on one of the little 450 and 500sport bikes.
