Default Home Made Chain Saw Carrier

This may inspire some ideas for anyone who needs to carry a chain saw and is a bit handy with tools.

The mid size Polaris have a round bar that I used for a mount. Other quads will vary.

Materials were:

1/2 " plywood
2 electrical conduit clamps
2 eye bolts
some #8 wood screws
4 carriage bolts
wood glue
2 hrs free time.

I use to bunjee mine to the cargo box but it would bounce around and hit my back and this way its quick to get out when clearing trails.

Cost under $5.00 to build.

Looks good Mongrol. I like it. I bought a plastic case from sears and have been strapping it down whenever I need it but its a PITA to get it out and put away, and I dont like to put it in right after using it, for fear of melting the plastic. This is perfect, and cheap which makes it even more perfect. I may have to rig something like this up.

Pretty well fool proof and doesn't bounce around.

Looks good Mongrel. I've made wood boxes for most of my stuff instead of buying pre-made. It's just too expensive. Another way to carry a chainsaw for all of you with flat rear racks is to get a couple of 1x12 pine boards and make a good sized base out of a couple pieces doweled together. Make its length and width enough so you can build a box rim around the outside edge. Trace the outline of the saw with the bar attached and screw a rim of wood around where the saw will be. You can add a spot for a couple tools like a scrench and file. Maybe enough room for a gallon of bar oil too. Or, just buy an X2 and throw a cargo net over it all.
