Default Sp 600 trans. oil

Changed the transmission oil on my 03 sp. 600 and when I drained out the old oil it probably was 1/2 quart in the drain pan. The owners manual says to put 32 oz. of fluid in to fill it up, but when you do that it completely fills it up to the point that it is running out of the fill plug, (mine has a fill plug not a dip stick) I thought that I misunderstood the owners manual but I went back and looked again and it says 32 oz. So either I had lost about 1/2 a quart over time (1000 miles) or the manual is wrong. Will filling it up to the point of the fluid running out of the fill plug hole damage the tranny or is this normal?
Have any of you guys had this problem?
Thanks

The online manual says to keep the fluid at 1 5/8 " from the top of fill plug. I could not find the actual capacity.

32 ounces refers to capacity on total rebuild, something that they dont explain properly and confuses a lot of people! Just fill to bottom of fill hole and dont worry about it! OPT
