Titan 589s fer mud!

I've had the 27" 589s on my 2001 Grizzly for a few months now and really like them! I don't know how they compare to other after market mud tires becuse all the guys I ride with who have 4x4 quads are still using the stock tires. But I have gone out riding with another guy who has the same year Grizzly as mine, just with stock tires. I spanked him when it came to the deep mud and hill climbing.

Just hold in the rear brake, get the rpm's up and let out the brake, that easy. It also does a good job if I am spinning and grab traction, it wheelies better there. I can get it up and be lookin at the front rack. As for mods, none yet, there is only a jet kit and filter for it, but I was told that there will be mods for it this spring. Do you think that the 589's would be alright on my mag or will it bog down.

ledebuhr1, I went and checked out Highlifters (H-I-G-H-L-I-F-T-E-R-S-.-C-O-M) in case they still censor here...a nice resource. Thanks Lots of good info on mudding. I believe I will wait on the 589MT. Sounds like the perfect tire for me. The tire looks great. Interesting to hear that Titan sold the design for the old 589 to ITP.
3ATV, I was expecting to lose a little bit of power on the low end but hope it won't be too bad with 25" tires. I think I can adjust my gearing a bit to compensate. Probably just change my rear sprocket.
It won't be cheap though. I priced it at around $500 for 4 tires and aluminum rims from Rocky Mountain ATV (they seem to have the best prices around). Basically, I just added $15 to the price of each 589AT to get my price as noone seems to know what the 589MTs will cost.
I think I will get a set of Pro-Wedges for the rear in the interim or perhaps a set of paddle tires for the dunes or........*drooling*

I am amazed at the tire pressures you guys ride. I guess that it's for better traction. I ride in a lot of soupy mud and water and I run 15 psi front and 12 psi rear. That is small compared to most I ride with. Some ride with 30, some with 40, and even some with 55-60. Heck, the guys at the local Polaris shop even said they run about 30 psi in their personal bikes. Great flotation and you get about 0.5" for every 10 psi you go up. My 27" Blackwaters are 27.75" with 15psi. Also, the Blackwater is an excellent tire for all around performance and they are 6 ply sides. Hard rubber compound too.

According to a guy at Titan that I spoke with they will have the same MSRP on the new 589's as they suggested on the old ones. The rear sizes of 26 and 27 inchers are out now and the front sizes of these diameters will be released on or before March 1. The 25 inch sizes will be mid to late March. And they are lighter than the old 589's even though they are 6 ply. He said the channels they cut into the lugs really helped save weight. Hope this info helps you guys!

Nobody touched that air pressure post. I have always run about 6 or 8lbs and my son gets upset because he thinks that is too high. Just for the heck of it I am going to try about 10 or 15 the next time I ride. At least steering would be easier and my sp500 rides great anyway.

As far as pressure goes, I keep my tires real low (5psi in front, 4 in back) I get better traction. I bought my bike at Gene's Polaris and when I picked up my bike the tires were like 15psi. I asked the guys why and they said the owner keeps the tires full because it makes the bike look bigger. In other words, a sales gimmick.
