Default 800 h.o.
I see some sportsman 800s labled as 800 h.o. and some as just 800. Is there a difference in performance or just model year?

800 HO= High Output 2008 models have different head etc.... Lil more HP & Tourqe....

i beleave its like 8 more hp. you can feel a little difference between the 2 but not much.

I see in the 09 brochure (Iknow they're pushing the new flagship 850) they show the 800 as just the 800....not the 800h.o.

My 09 800 shows it as an H.O.(unless somebody at the factory goofed on the decals).

I never knew the two existed until after I bought my 800 non H.O. Was a little bummed after I found out but I don't think I'm missing that extra horse power anyway. What exactly did they change to make the HO a HO?

timing was one of the things they changed. everything made after 08'has the HO improvements. there isnt a regual 800 like the 06-07' models i dont beleave.

The main difference between the 800 and the 800 HO would be the head, cam, pistons, fuel rail and as someone else said about 8 hp

my 08 was a little faster and stronger feeling than my uncles 05 was. but it wasnt a huge difference. mine did better on gas though with the same type of riding.

pistons are the same. everything else mentioned is changed including valves after made date of 11/6/07 on the 08' HO models.
