New Helmet
#1
I gotta get a new helmet. They say the inner protection breaks down in 4 or 5 years anyway. Was thinking about a modular Shark Evoline, but not sure. Sick of goggles and the racer-boy motocross look of standard off-road helmets. Shark are pretty $$, but they're Snell rated and have the more rigid Euro standard. Anybody have any other ideas? Not a huge amount of dust in the Maine woods, so that's not a primary concern. Winter riding...Have a nice fully enclosed Polaris sled helmet for that.
Just wanted to add that I believe in chin / jaw protection. Think it's pretty important in a potential roll-over. Take a look at this impact diagram.

A shield sounds like a recipe for a scratched mess that I'll end up tearing off on the first mud impact. -I can't stand goggles anymore...Wish there was another option.

A shield is what I use on a open face . I have two shield's that flip up if not needed or can be taken off in seconds , one clear one tinted switch around according to conditions . Did 3000 miles last year the shields have a few scratches but not many and for a few bucks every few years I can install a new one if need be .

I think that ktp lid is pretty sweet. would like to see the quality of it first though..To bad it only comes in black sure makes it a little warmer in the sun. Also how is the ventilation in it as far as vents I sweat a lot!!!

Woods riding primarily, relatively moist; not like riding in California as I used to. I guess it's a matter of what you're used to. I guess these new "rails to trails" trails will have a lot of dust. Hope to get some time on them this season, so maybe I should adjust my dust expectation a bit.

Really....Would think it'd be ruined in the first 20 minutes. Good to hear. I still gotta have something protecting the jaw though. I don't heal quite like I used to.
